Situation or SWOT Analysis

Managing the marketing function begins with a complete analysis of the company’s situation. The marketer should conduct a SWOT analysis, by which it evaluates the company’s overall strengths (S), weaknesses (W), opportunities (O), and threats (T). Strengths include internal capabilities, resources, positive situational factors that may help the company to serve its customers and achieve its objectives. Weaknesses include internal limitations and negative situational factors that may interfere with the company’s performance. Opportunities are favorable factors or trends in the external environment that the company may be able to exploit to its advantage. And threats are unfavorable external factors or trends that may present challenges to performance. Marketing: An Introduction/Armstrong, Kotler- Pg55

Objective

Kohler’s overall objective is to build profitable customer relationships by developing efficient yet beautiful products that embrace the “essence of gracious living.”Marketing strategies and programs must be developed to support these marketing objectives. Marketing: An Introduction/Armstrong, Kotler- Pg43

Phileas Fogg Snacks wants to create savory snacks that encourage the customer to drink more. We want the customer to order a Red Stripe, or their drink or choice and automatically order the Hot Caribbean Jerk Crackers, or their favorite Phileas Fogg snack. We want the two to go hand-in-hand. We at Phileas Fogg Snacks also want our snack to bring people closer together. The engaging stories on the back of each snack are great conversation starters for the people that have trouble meeting new people, or are just awkward at starting up that initial "ice-breaker".
Because many surprises occur during the implementation of marketing plans, marketers must practice constant marketing control—evaluating the results of marketing strategies and plans and taking corrective action to ensure that objectives are attained. Marketing: An Introduction/Armstrong, Kotler- Pg56
Surprise and setbacks are a given, and knowing this Phileas Fogg Snacks will always stay true to our objectives. If the environment changes then we will re-evaluate our objectives and change them accordingly, but will always aim make sure our products stay affordable, savory, and always transport our customer to paradise without leaving their barstool.

Business Mission Statement

“Mission statements should be meaningful and specific, yet motivating. They should emphasize the company’s strengths in the market place. Too often, mission statements are written for public relations purposes and lack specific, workable guidelines.” Marketing: An Introduction/Armstrong, Kotler- Pg41
While creating my mission statement, I kept this quote in mind the entire time. I want to motivate my customers to buy my crackers, and at the same time, make certain that they understand that what they’re purchasing is a piece of me and a piece of my history. I aspire to have each person know that every time they bite into my cracker they are transported to Jamaica without leaving their bar stool.

"Phileas Fogg Snacks wants to bring our customers to the far corners of the world with out leaving their bar stools, with our savory, affordable adult snacks. We want each customer to be excited each time they visit favorite pub to sit down, order their favorite drink of choice, and the automatically ask for a Phileas Fogg snack, because the two go so perfect together!"

EOC Week 7: The Pitch

Phileas Fogg has found himself in Jamaica on Christmas Eve, and he is feeling very home sick. He can hear the children laughing and music being played off in the distance. Instead of staying in his room and feeling bad for himself he decided to follow the music and investigate what is going on. Once he reached downtown Kingston he asked a local what everyone was celebrating. “It’s the Grand Market, also known as the Christmas market!” was the local’s reply. He went on further to explain that during the Christmas market locals sell toys for children, crafts, gifts, and food. There is also street dancing and music. The party lasts through Christmas night. Phileas Fogg decided to join the party and not feel bad for himself any longer. He walked the streets exploring the different vendors and joined the locals in drinking and dancing. One local named Barrington saw Philleas Fogg roaming about and knew right away he was a tourist. Barrington, who was a little tipsy himself, thought that he would show Philleas what it really meant to be from Jamaica. He called Philleas over to his vendor booth where is was selling Scotch Bonnets, Jamaica’s hottest peppers, and dared him to eat one whole pepper. If Philleas could finish the whole pepper then Barrington would invite him back to his house to celebrate Christmas with his family. Philleas was thrilled by the idea of not spending Christmas alone and took Barrington up on his offer. Philleas snatched the pepper from Barrington and shoved the whole pepper in his mouth without hesitation. At first he thought, “this isn’t that bad,” and then it hit him. His whole face turned beat red and all he could think about was a drink. He grabbed a Red Strip from Barrington’s hand and chugged the whole beer down. After a few moments the pepper’s hotness wore off and he could speak again! “I didn’t think that you would’ve been able to handle that pepper, but my word is my honor and I officially invite you to Christmas dinner with my family at my house,” Barrington declared. Philleas wasn’t feeling 100% normal but he wasn’t going to let Barrington notice. Once he was at Christmas dinner, Barrington’s wife served jerk crackers with just a dot of the Scotch Bonnet peppers in the center with cans of Red Strip to wash them down. Philleas was so grateful for the company on Christmas that he decided to package those same crackers with the instructions to chase with a Red Strip for the full Jamaican experience.

EOC Week 4: There's an App for That!

We all know we’ve had a couple drinks and get on our smart phones and start texting away. We have no filter. The next day we can look at our phones and see what we said. But, have you ever looked at your call log and see phone calls you made, and don’t have clue what you said? Or, for those who can’t relate to my binge-drinking problems, might have friends or family that live far away that we never get to see or talk to? Well, I have an app that for! Once you have downloaded the app to your phone it will automatically ask you if you would like to record your Facetime, Skype, or regular phone call when you answer or place a call. When you are Skyping or Facetiming it will video record your conversation. On a regular call the audio will be recorded. This way whenever you miss that person or want to know what kind of nonsense your were saying to your ex-boyfriend, you can play the video back!

I realized my million-dollar app idea, has already been invented and available for free on your iPhone and iPad. “If you are using Facetime on you iOS device, then you can go for this app as it lets you record mic audio, record Facetime video, and with features like remote control, retina display support, better handling capacity and few more make this a worthy app.”                                                               http://pcsplace.com/tips-n-tricks/3-best-ways-to-record-facetime-video-calls/
